Past video installation at Asian Art Museum

Still from Your Piece, 2015

I’m thrilled to announce that I will be presenting a new video installation at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco in July for one night only as part of their Artists Drawing Club series. Your Piece is inspired by Korean wrapping cloths, or bojagi, which women pieced together out of scraps of spare material, creating an heirloom full of beauty and utility from what would otherwise be waste. I am reimagining the bojagi as a video installation that creates a contemporary collective wrapping cloth of memories.

Thursday, July 23 from 6:30-9 pm

One part of the installation will feature Asian American family home movies from Center for Asian American Media from the Memories to Light collection re-edited into bojagi-inspired patterns. Another part of the installation will consist of a dynamic video created from portrait photos submitted by the greater Asian Art Museum and Bay Area community. Additionally, the installation will feature an original score composed by Nathan Melsted with cello performed by Matt Fish.

Admission to the Asian Art Museum is $5 after 5 pm. More information on visiting. More information about the Artists Drawing Club event series.
